SunAmerica Retirement Markets ("SunAmerica") is positioned as “the retirement specialist” due to its exclusive focus for nearly three decades on meeting the retirement savings and income needs of Americans today through our variable annuities—a powerful investment choice that addresses the needs of ensuring income for life and protecting assets. We provide DALBAR-award winning1 levels of service and support to the financial advisors who recommend our products and to their clients who become our policyholders.
Variable annuities offer both the growth potential and lifetime income solutions Americans are demanding—complete with the added safety of optional income guarantees that can help take the worry out of retirement planning, no matter how the market performs.
SunAmerica, The Retirement Specialist serves more than 330,000 Americans with its innovative retirement solutions—the variable annuities issued by the two life insurance companies below—delivered through a broad‑based distribution network of financial professionals across the country. SunAmerica is a variable annuity sales pioneer, having developed and issued one of the first multi-manager variable annuities in the early 1990s.
The products and services marketed by SunAmerica, The Retirement Specialist are distributed through our FINRA (www.finra.org) member distributor, SunAmerica Capital Services, Inc. (Some features, including those that offer lifetime income guarantees and protect that income against market volatility, are optional, available for an additional annual fee and subject to investment requirements, age limitations and restrictions including withdrawal parameters. Guarantees are backed by the claims-paying ability of the issuing life insurance company.)

1 The award winners are determined based on an evaluation system pioneered by DALBAR, Inc. Thousands of samples are collected throughout a one-year period and measured against standards of excellence to capture customer experiences and determine which companies are rising above the rest. Only firms that surpass these benchmarks earn the DALBAR Service Award. There are four key criteria for the customer experience in the measures: 1) Attitude, 2) Accommodation, 3) Expertise and 4) Call Interrupts. SunAmerica is reviewed on a monthly basis via downloads from our call recording system directly to DALBAR. There is no filtering of the calls. SunAmerica is ranked against 21 peer variable annuity companies.
2 Ratings do not reflect and are not indicative of the variable portfolio’s performance. Only the variable annuity’s fixed account rates, protection features, and income payments are backed by the claims-paying ability of the issuer. Ratings can be objective indicators of a company’s financial strength and can provide a relative measure to help investors select the best insurer for their needs.
Annuities are designed for long-term retirement investing. Early withdrawals may be subject to withdrawal charges. Partial withdrawals may reduce benefits available under the contract as well as the amount available upon a full surrender. Withdrawals are subject to ordinary income tax, and if taken prior to age 59½, an additional 10% federal tax may apply. An investment in a variable annuity involves investment risk, including possible loss of principal. The contract, when redeemed, may be worth more or less than the total amount invested.
Variable annuities are sold by prospectus only. The prospectus contains the investment objectives, risks, fees, charges, expenses and other information regarding the contract and underlying funds, which should be considered carefully before investing. A prospectus may be obtained from your financial advisor or by calling 1-800-445-7862. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing.
Variable annuities are issued by American General Life Insurance Company (American General Life), except in New York, where they are issued by The United States Life Insurance Company in the City of New York (US Life). The purchase of a variable annuity is not required for, and is not a term of, the provision of any banking service or activity. Neither American General Life, US Life, nor their representatives provide tax, accounting or legal advice. You should contact your own tax advisor or attorney regarding your particular situation.
